expose the harm.

Expose the Harm is a CEASE project where people tell their stories in a protected way. What pornography or the sex industry did to your life, your relationships, or the people around you. Anonymously if you want.

WHY STORIES MATTER
01

Written down, your experience stops being only yours.

Every experience written down makes it harder to keep calling this harmless. It makes the next person feel less alone, and makes an argument impossible to dismiss.

These anonymous accounts are compiled and analysed by CEASE into evidence we put in front of government and decision-makers, because ministers cannot dismiss two hundred people describing the same thing happening to them.

This is for you if
02
01

Your own use has taken more from you than you expected

02

Someone you love uses it, and you have been carrying that on your own

03

It shaped what you thought sex was before you ever had it

04

You were filmed or you worked in the industry

05

You were pressured into something a partner had seen somewhere else

06

You are a parent watching it reach your child

07

You are not sure your story belongs on this list, but it has been on your mind for years

If you recognise yourself in any of this, you are in the right place.

For people who have caused harm

You will not be shamed here, and you are not being asked to confess to anything.

Shame has never once helped anyone stop. What helps is finding out you were not the only one. Read a few of these and you will notice how many begin the same way. A person, on their own, about eleven years old, who went looking for nothing.

The stories

“My husband (a highly educated professional) was secretly addicted to porn for a decade.”

C · United Kingdom

“In year 9 I remember a boy was sitting next to me in class and he was watching porn on his phone.”

Emma · United Kingdom

“I am a victim of nonconsensual pornography. I now have PTSD and depression.”

What happens when you share
04
It goes on our website

Everything published on our project website, Expose the Harm, was written to be read by other people, and by the people making the law.

You choose the name on it

Your first name, a single initial, or a name you invent. Never your full name. You give your age and your country, and nothing else about you.

We read every one first

We will edit or hold back anything that could identify you or anyone else, and we do not publish anything outside of sexual exploitation.

You can take it back

You set a secret word when you submit. Send us that word and a screenshot of your post at any point and it comes down, no reason needed.

Two lines is a story

Keep it under 500 words. Some of the ones that connect with people most are the shortest.

You will not be added to anything

There is an optional box for our email list at the end. Ignore it and you will not hear from us again.

Nobody will reply telling you what to do

We are not going to send you advice you did not ask for.

You need to be 13 or over

If you are under 13 and something has happened to you, Childline is below and they are there right now.
